Comprehensive Energy Efficiency Treatment

Cabot Corporation, a leading global specialty chemicals and performance materials company, partnered with ENGIE Services U.S. (ENGIE) to obtain a comprehensive energy conservation analysis of its Business Development Center in Billerica, Massachusetts. The analysis resulted in the identification of cost effective controls, lighting, and central chiller plant projects.

The Partnership

ENGIE was contracted to install HVAC and controls energy efficiency measures for the Cabot Corporation. Extensive modification to the chiller plant included the installation of a new 470-ton chiller, conversion to primary and secondary pumping, and installation of a new efficient cooling tower.

  • In addition to the $110,000 annual energy savings, ENGIE’s team of utility partner specialists obtained $300,000 in utility incentives.
• Protecting the Environment
  • The combined energy efficiency measures create an annual savings of 1.2 million kWh and 20,000 therms of gas, reducing carbon emissions equivalent to the annual energy use of 107 homes.
